Ai, your idea cash cow

Ai stole my job…

And if you’re not careful it’ll come for you ne—

I’m totally kidding. Gotcha for a second didn’t I?

Serious question though—when are we going to change the narrative around Ai and copywriting? I see the same anxieties about ‘Ai taking copywriters jobs’ being projected daily.

And don’t get me started on the ‘influencers’ trying to teach copywriters “how to use Ai to boost their productivity” through one singular LinkedIn post. I promise you, you will not learn how to fully take advantage of Ai in 3 Canva slides.

Please educate yourself, do your own research, watch a tutorial, take a course. Gather your own information and draw your own conclusions. Put in the work because Ai is here to stay baby. And if that freaks you out… ohhh boy, you gon’ learn today… and what I’m about to say next might make you cry.

Sorry to break it to ya but learning how to use Ai PROPERLY takes time to figure out. It’s not supposed to be easy (if it was copywriters would be using it more and freaking out about it less.) Ever heard the saying “what’s worth it won’t come easy”? (I may have butchered that quote but not the point!)

So here’s my two cents on Ai and copywriting that no one asked for. You can take it or leave it. It’s not like I’ve been using Ai for 2 years and have figured out a system for utilizing it and enhancing my efficiency with proven results or anything… (un-humble brag)

Ai is not some big scary monster coming for your job. Uno reverse card—YOU are actually Ai’s pimp. (‘Taboo! She said ‘pimp’… hey, you’ve made it this far, might as well keep reading and see if it gets any weirder.)

Ahhhh *takes a sip of tea and looks off into the distance reminiscening fondly* Ai, my bestfriend.

What’s so good about Ai? Why does Michelle speak so highly of it?!

Hello. Me Michelle. Here why. In few words.

Gone are the days of ‘writer’s block’. The days of sitting at your computer, staring at a blank doc feeling like you’re racking your brain for even the smallest ounce of inspiration. Gone are the days where you’re lucky if you have a one solid idea for direction. Why? Because you now have access to a personal assistant at your finger tips. Your very own idea cash cow. My advice is to find your rhythm with Ai and figure out how it works best for YOU. Ai should give you some bones to work with—the foundations of a house, and as the creative copywriter it’s your job to bring life into it and make it a home. At the end of the day, YOUR [human] voice is what sells.

So, take a deep breath. It’s all going to be ok. And by the way, not every copywriter will utilize Ai the same way. So your job is to get a basic understanding of the functional capabilities and then have some fun and let ‘er rip.

This is the part where I’m supposed to have some sort of call to action—you know, being a copywriter and all. Nope.
